Ralph Thomas Nevils, Jr., 82, went to be with his Lord on June 13, 2017. Ralph was born in Creedmoor, NC on April 13, 1935, the only son of Helen Washington Nevils and Ralph Thomas Nevils. Ralph was a devoted and loving husband and father. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his strong personality, integrity, dignity, and his love for the Lord.

He enlisted the Navy in 1955 and retired from the Navy in April 1975 at NAS Jacksonville as a Chief Petty Officer. He continued his career by working...

Ralph Thomas Nevils, Jr., 82, went to be with his Lord on June 13, 2017. Ralph was born in Creedmoor, NC on April 13, 1935, the only son of Helen Washington Nevils and Ralph Thomas Nevils. Ralph was a devoted and loving husband and father. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his strong personality, integrity, dignity, and his love for the Lord.

He enlisted the Navy in 1955 and retired from the Navy in April 1975 at NAS Jacksonville as a Chief Petty Officer. He continued his career by working for the State of North Carolina at the Employment Security Commission. He became Director of Veterans Employment Service for the Employment Security Commission in December of 1988 and retired in 1995. At his retirement he was presented with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award for service to North Carolina citizens. He was an active member of Six Forks Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Anita Liles Nevils of Raleigh, two daughters; Stacy Collins of Columbia, SC and Lisa Gooch, and husband, Tommy of Creedmoor, sons, Ralph T. Nevils, III and wife, Sherry of Henderson and Michael Burgess and wife, Yvonne of Virginia, mother-in-law, Gerry Liles of Raleigh, grandchildren: Raiford Collins, Mary Margaret Crews, Catherine Collins, Winston Collins, Matthew Nevils, Josie Nevils, Caden Colvin, Joshua Colvin, and two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Alex Colvin.

A Celebration of Life, officiated by Pastor Brian Barndt, will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow, with Navy military honors, at Raleigh Memorial Park.
