Florence Avonelle Wheeler, 86, passed away on November 19, 2017. She was born in Dubois, Pennsylvania to the late Curtis and Alverda Harris; as a young girl she could not wait to get to the big city of Pittsburgh. Avie was a fundraising manager for the Eastern Chapter of the MS Society. She enjoyed BINGO and playing cards with her friends but most of all she loved her family. Avie was caring, unselfish, very grateful and a good friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her Sara. She was predeceased...

Florence Avonelle Wheeler, 86, passed away on November 19, 2017. She was born in Dubois, Pennsylvania to the late Curtis and Alverda Harris; as a young girl she could not wait to get to the big city of Pittsburgh. Avie was a fundraising manager for the Eastern Chapter of the MS Society. She enjoyed BINGO and playing cards with her friends but most of all she loved her family. Avie was caring, unselfish, very grateful and a good friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her Sara. She was predeceased by loving husband Thomas Francis Wheeler (formerly of Westinghouse Electric), and a sister Helen Kosanovich.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Linda Wheeler of Raleigh; 3 sons, Thomas F. Wheeler Jr of Raleigh/Emerald Isle, James C. Wheeler of Raleigh, and Mark E. Wheeler of Youngsville; 5 grandchildren, Sara, Tommy, Morgan, Mark, and Lauren; and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the MS Society, Eastern Chapter.
