Charles Albert Thompson, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at his home. Born on April 27, 1946 in Alamance County; he was the son of the late Alfred Pinkney Thompson and Ruby Blanche Allen Thompson. He attended Millbrook High School and enjoyed attending the reunions.

Charles retired from Raleigh Office Supply as a delivery driver after many years. He enjoyed antique cars, drag racing and bluegrass music.

He is lovingly remembered by his son: Steven Michael Thompson and wife, Mary Katherine; daughter: Lorie Michelle Lawson; their mother: Judy Branch; step-children: Stephen Wayne Merritt and wife Tamara, and Anna Burkett; grandchildren: Christopher Allen Lawson, Kelly LeighAnne Lawson, Charleston Lane Thompson, Michael Nathaniel Thompson and Mary Hannah Thompson; great-grandson: Hunter Jacob Lawson; sister: Margaret Marie Thompson Secrest and husband David; nieces: Traci Bender and Karen Wall; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Alfred Pinkney Thompson, Jr.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11th from 1-2 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, with a Graveside Service to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Health Care.
